**Donna (StrataCore):** Our company recently did our own version of Mental Health month! Julie Turney of https://hratheart.co/ gave a great talk regarding mental health in the workplace.
We also hosted a virtual yoga session led by a local yoga instructor, and offered a 1 year subscription to the Calm app.
**Cynthia (CP) RfH Ambassador:** For mental health, partnering with subject matter experts (SMEs) is important (companies that specialize in mental health, etc.) Companies that have easy-to-use mental health assessments that can be taken anytime, anywhere with psychological safety. Internally, broadcast and have easy-to-access resources for people to understand what they can do if they need support (who to reach out to, examples of how [we] can accommodate, etc.).
I'm going to say something that may be controversial: EAPs vary in their quality. If we, as People-people, promote EAPs as the only source of support, we may not be helping and instead, may be hurting folks' perspectives on mental health. Expertise is crucial.
Something I loved that our team launched for mental health month were guides for employees
“Guides for managers to talk to their employees about mental health”
“Guides to talk to your manager about mental health”
It provided resources we had available as a company and script languages people could use to ask for help or check-in. It was a collaboration between Benefits, Workplace, and L&D.
We are bringing in an expert to talk about wellness and techniques to combat stress, running a MHFA lunch & learn and engaging with our employees through specific slack channels we have #braingym and #wellness.
If your company offers EAP, always a good time to remind them of the services that they provide. Maybe see if they are offering any webinars or lunch & learns for mental health awareness.
